Internal Medicine
Welcome from Mathew Mathew, MD
Program Director
Welcome to the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Prime Healthcare’s Pennsylvania Region, affiliated with Roxborough Memorial Hospital! We appreciate your interest in exploring our exceptional Internal Medicine residency program. Training at our facility ensures a comprehensive clinical experience, as we serve a diverse patient population that includes individuals from various socioeconomic backgrounds, including underserved communities and affluent patients of all ages.
Roxborough Memorial Hospital is a community hospital known for its compassionate care and strong sense of community. Our residents benefit from outstanding ancillary support and a dedicated nursing staff, all aimed at preparing them for successful careers in primary care and community hospital settings. Additionally, our program offers two out-of-house elective blocks, allowing trainees to broaden their horizons through experiences at external facilities. Many residents use this opportunity to gain insights into university hospital settings or to explore potential fellowship programs.
A distinguishing feature of our program is the autonomy we provide our residents. As a PGY-2 resident, you will have the opportunity to lead in managing our ICU, supported by our on-call intensivists. You will gain proficiency in essential procedures such as placing central venous catheters, arterial lines, and temporary dialysis catheters. The transition from PGY-3 resident to attending physician is designed to be smooth, thanks to the independence we foster throughout training.
We seek bright, enthusiastic, and collaborative applicants who are ready to embark on an unforgettable three-year journey that will prepare them for a rewarding career as compassionate and capable internists.
Our program is accredited by the ACGME and holds Osteopathic Recognition. For more details about the program, please explore the links provided below.
Wishing you the best of luck in your future endeavors!
Sincerely,
Mathew Mathew, MD
